Falling down is an
important part of learning to walk. When a child takes her first wobbly steps, her parents stand lovingly by
to steady her, offering a balancing hand, and then
comforting and lifting her when needed.
If parents did not allow that child to fall down, the child would never gain the equilibrium
and balancing skills needed to walk.
Our Father in Heaven, just like most earthly fathers, wants what is best for us. And because He is God, He loves us with a perfect love. He gives us opportunities to grow to be like Him--all wise, all good, all knowing. Other times, He weeps with sorrow when we are victims of the consequences of the choices of others.
choices is essential to God's Eternal Plan for Happiness. If we had a perfect memory of our life
in the Premortal Existence, we would not be able to live by faith, so a veil was placed over the earth to limit our connection with God and the spiritual existence. Yet God's connection and memory is fully intact--He is always there for us when we need Him. But we must reach out to Him-- He will not interfere with our God-given agency to choose for ourselves.
Who are we?

GOD HAS NOT LEFT US ALONE here on earth. He “balances us, steadies us, and offers us a supporting hand” by sending PROPHETS to lead us, SCRIPTURES to guide us, encourages us to PRAY to give us direction and comfort us. He also gives us aid through others and encourages us to help others in His behalf through the whispering of HIS HOLY SPIRIT. And then He has given us His greatest aid, comfort, and support--His Only Begotten Son, JESUS CHRIST, who suffered every single thing we will suffer in this life. Because He experienced our pains and sorrows Himself, Christ knows perfectly how to help us in time of need!

Yet God will rarely step in and take away our
God-given agency, or the right to choose. . .
When God's plan was presented in heaven,
there were some who did not want to learn by their consequences and didn't think it fair that they had to follow the laws of the universe or
the commandments of God. The enemies of God are still trying hard to eliminate responsibility for choices and actions today.
But we—everyone who came to earth—fought for God's Plan and our God-given agency (even if some of us cannot remember fighting for that right). Choosing and then taking responsibility for the consequences of our choices, being
accountable, is critical to our learning and
growth here on earth.
And when we make mistakes, sin, or cause others harm, God has provided a way for us to be forgiven for those choices--a Savior, Jesus Christ. His sacrifice made it possible for us to escape the universal laws of justice so that we can be saved, not IN our sins, but FROM our sins, so He can heal those we've harmed.

With our limited vision, we may not understand why He does not just “walk” for us instead of allowing us to fall (suffer) over and over again, BUT He can see where we are going and what we will become when we have finally learned to “walk” ourselves through this earth life.

Don't we know what is best for ourself and for those in our life?
Are we being punished by God if our life isn't going how we think
it should be going?
Our view in life is very limited since we can only see what is before us or behind us--and even then, those views are often distorted by our emotions or not understanding the lives of others. Yet our Heavenly Father perfectly knows all and sees all views.
For instance, a child, with their limited knowledge, might like to eat only candy if given the choice.
But adults, who are older and wiser, know that eating only candy will make us sick and will not provide our bodies with needed nutrients.
Since God has complete understanding, He can see that sometimes what we want is not for the best or when we are avoiding

what is good for us. So He knows exactly what is best needed for our growth and for the growth of others as well.
There have been many times in my life I have wondered why I couldn't have the good things I desired, only to later see that God was helping me to learn or blessing me with even greater things than I could ever imagine.
