BASICS of The Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-Day Saints

We Believe All Mankind to Be Literal Children of God and that God Loves Us and Has a Plan for Us to Return and Live with Him Someday
Is a
nick-name
given to members of our church because we believe the Book of Mormon, an ancient record of the inhabitants of the American continents, abridged by a man named Mormon, to be another testament of Jesus Christ. We are Christians. We worship Jesus Christ. He IS the center and chief cornerstone of our religion. We believe our church to be the restored church of Jesus Christ, His church on the earth today.
And His church should bear His name, therefore:
We Are
Therefore, whatsoever ye shall do, ye shall do it in my name; therefore ye shall call the church in my name; and ye shall call upon the Father
in my name that he will bless the church for
my sake. And how be it my church save it be called in my name? For if a church be called
in Moses’ name then it be Moses’ church; or if it be called in the name of a man then it be the church of a man; but if it be called in my name then it is my church, if it so be that they are built upon
my gospel. (3 NE 27:7-8)
**Our name, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is often shortened to "LDS," or "Latter-day Saints".
We prefer the full name of our church, or to avoid repetition, will often use, "The Church" when used in the same conversation. As often as possible, we would appreciate to be known by our full name, as we wish
to be known as faithful followers of Jesus Christ.
