MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS BELIEVE THE BIBLE TO BE A SACRED RECORD OF THE WORD OF GOD

WE Believe:

**The Old Testament testifies of the coming of Jesus Christ and regard it as Holy Scripture.

**In the Old Testament  God spoke through Prophets to the ancient inhabitants of the eastern hemisphere.

**The New Testament testifies of Jesus Christ, His ministry on earth through testimonies of those who knew Him, including His apostles and regard it as Holy Scripture.

**Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints study and teach from the Holy Bible in our Sunday Services as well as in our personal study.

**I, personally, LOVE the Old Testament and am an avid student of Ancient Biblical Studies, including

Ancient Hebrew.

***The Bible and
The Book of Mormon Complement Each Other...
THE BOOK OF MORMON

**The Book of Mormon is a collection of ancient records of the people who lived on the American continents. It is a record of God's dealings with these people, the prophets He sent to teach them, the trials they overcame, and, my favorite part, a record of Jesus Christ's visit to the American Continent after His Resurrection. It is another testament of Jesus Christ, adding clarity to Old Testament and New Testament teachings. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints regards the Book of Mormon as Holy Scripture, a companion to the Holy Bible.

**It is called “The Book of Mormon” because Mormon, a prophet, and one of the last people

to witness the end of his people's civilization, took and compiled—abridged--the records of his ancestors which had been kept throughout the generations, onto gold plates—the same gold plates which were later given to Joseph Smith for translation.

**The Book of Mormon is special to me because Mormon compiled it under the direction of God for our time. Mormon's ancestors, including Nephi, Alma, Helaman, Abinadi and Benjamin were real people. They lived, they loved, they felt pain, anguish, fear, hope and joy. I am humbled and grateful to the ancient Americans who sacrificed to write of their lives for my benefit. In this sacred book I have found wisdom, comfort, strength, peace, and answers to my prayers.
